A NEW GENERATION VARIETY

The Tarocco Ippolito blood orange is a new variety which has only been on the market for a few years. Originating from Sicily and now grown by Sunset Citrus in Australia, the Tarocco Ippolito is appreciated for its distinctive colour thanks to the natural mutation of the high presence of anthocyanin both in the skin and in the pulp.

Tarocco Ippolito are obtaining a growing interest in local and international markets for their high pigmentation. The fruit with the red blushed skin is able to attract consumers with their visual difference and balanced taste. Its particularly delicate taste is characterised by a high sugar content and low acidity making it unique among blood oranges. It also has one of the highest Vitamin C content than any other orange, is very juicy, seedless and has a good medium to large round shape with medium to thin skin.

Born in Italy
Grown in Australia

Tarocco blood oranges are the most popular citrus variety in their native home of Italy. Tarocco blood oranges account for approximately sixty percent of Italy’s blood orange production and are often labelled as the best “arancia da tavola” or table orange, squeezed fresh as a breakfast juice.

Tarocco Ippolito is a mid-season Tarocco, It was Introduced to Australia as a public variety. Grown in the fertile soils of the Riverina NSW, Sunset Citrus are amongst the few Tarocco Ippolito blood oranges producers in Australia dedicated to the production and supply of the highest quality blood oranges. The distinctive colour requires chilly winter nights to develop properly, coupled with sunny days therefore we have the ability to match the environmental conditions of the much revered Italian Tarocco Ippolito blood orange.
